Nancy S. Truex

February 26, 1948 ‒ March 11, 2021

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Nancy S. Truex, age 73, of Mansfield went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 11, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born February 26, 1948 in Ashland, to Ralph and Harriette (Miller) Mutchler.  She graduated from Ashland High School in 1966 and attended The Ohio State University, pursuing her dream of becoming a teacher.

She graduated in 1970 and began her 30+ year tenure at Madison High School teaching cooperative business educational classes. Nancy impacted the lives of many students and forged bonds that lasted a lifetime. After retiring she enjoyed teaching typing at the correctional facility.

On February 27, 1971 she married Michael Truex.  Together they raised their two children, Mark and Julie.  Nancy was a very proud and loving mom who dearly enjoyed supporting her kids throughout all phases of their lives.

She was a member of Berean Baptist Church since 1985 and volunteered for Partners in Christ. Through this program, Nancy adopted several Dominican children and sponsored them through their school years and beyond. She even had the privilege to visit them in person and maintained relationships into their adult lives.

Nancy enjoyed trips with Mike and the kids, especially to Sanibel Island. She loved the excitement of Christmas time and spending time with her grandbabies.  She appreciated the beauty of nature provided by God, especially flowers, the mountains and the sea.

Her legacy will be her love for Christ, extending His grace as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and teacher.

Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Mike Truex of Mansfield; a son and daughter-in-law Mark and Samantha Truex of Mansfield; daughter Julie Conrad of Ft. Mitchell, KY; five grandchildren Isabella and Elise Conrad, and Ariel, Adelyn and Ethan Truex, siblings Barbara and Don Crist, Don and Sandy Mutchler, and Joyce and Don Dailey, nieces, nephews and friends in Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends may call Friday, March 19, 2021 from 5-8 pm at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home.  A memorial service honoring the life of Nancy S. Truex will be held Saturday at 11 am at Berean Baptist Church, where the family will receive guests the hour prior to the service.  Pastor Dan Krause will officiate.  Interment will be held in Imhoff Cemetery in Ashland County at a later date.

Contributions in her memory may be made to OhioHealth Hospice or Partners in Christ.

  • Mrs. Truex was my senior instructor at Madison in the business program. She taught me so much that I still use today in my career. She found my dyslexia my senior year in high school after years of frustration of not retaining information. She gave me constant encouragement and was my cheerleader. Our loss here on Earth is Heaven’s gain and it is glorious to know her body has been healed. I will be lifting the entire Truex family in my prayers!
