Nancy Allen, age 79, of Fairway Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 28, 1934 in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Denzil and Martha (Mayer) Edgar. Nancy worked as a reading lab assistant for the Knox County Joint Vocational School before retiring from Don Watson Realtors in 1995 after fourteen years of employment.

She was a member of Knox Chapter #236 Order of Eastern Star, 61 year member of Alpha Gamma Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. Nancy was an avid card player and she always enjoyed her Thursday afternoons with the Fairways Euchre Club.

She is survived by her sons, Rick (Kim) Allen of Mount Vernon and Doug Allen of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, a granddaughter, Jennifer Allen and a special niece Diana Thomas.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Allen, a son, Andrew Allen and a brother, Thomas Edgar.

Friends may call on Monday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service provided by the Beta Sigma Phi sorority will begin at 2 p.m. The family will observe a private graveside in Mound View Cemetery with Rev. Warren Outhwaite officiating.

Memorial contributions in Nancy’s name may be made to Hospice of Knox County.
