Myrna M. Johnson

BUTLER: Myrna M. Johnson, 80, of Armstrong Road, Butler, died Wednesday evening July 28, 2004 in Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon following a short illness.
She was born December 20, 1923 in Butler to Leroy J. and Ethel R. (Berry) Spohn, and was graduated from Butler High School in 1942.
A homemaker, Myrna served as her husband’s helpmate as he pastored United Methodist Churches including Homer, Lock, Brandon, Centerburg, Mount Tabor, North Robinson, Leesville, and Perrysville, as well as ministering to their home church in Butler.
Myrna was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Butler, and an Associate Member of Fort Meade United Methodist Church, where they spent winters for six years.
She had been District Youth Secretary for the United Methodist Churches, as former president of the Richland County Extension Office, she conducted home demonstrations, and was a member of the Clearfork-Butler Historical Society.
She is survived by her husband The Rev. Harold C. Johnson, whom she married May 30, 1942; their children H. Harry and Elaine Johnson, Bernard L. and Carol Johnson, and Richard C. Johnson all of Butler; Elaine and Dennis Emmanuel of Oak Hill, California; eleven grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three sisters Pauline and Tom Daum of Mansfield, Phyllis and Glenn Johnson of Butler, and Jean and Fred Gaubatz of Bellville; a brother and sister-in-law L. Thomas and Betty Spohn of Howard; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends today Friday, July 30, 2004, from 6-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. The worship service giving Glory to God for the Life of Myrna Johnson will be held Saturday at 10:30 am in Trinity United Methodist Church, 12 Cleveland Street, Butler, with The Rev. Keith McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church may be made at the funeral home or the church.
