Monica Lynne Pickens, 31, of 797 Wiltshire, Columbus, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, after a sudden illness.
Born July 23, 1975 in Galion, she was the daughter of James H. Erf, of Galion and Judy D. Shumaker Goebel of Grove City. She married David S. Pickens on Oct. 15, 1999 who survives.
She graduated from Galion High School in 1992 where she played on the girls basketball team and was a member of the band. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and 4-H. She has held various jobs as a waitress at M and S Pizza, Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel. She last worked at Lowe’s prior to taking time to raise her children.
Surviving are her four daughters, including triplets, Sarah, Kathrine and Amanda Pickens and Danielle Pickens, all at home; two step children, Jacob and Madison Pickens; one sister and brother-in-law, Angela Kay and Michael Smith of Bridgeport, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, James Scott and Lori Erf of Wooster; grandparents, Burnell and Mae Shumaker of Galion; stepmother, Ann M. Erf of Galion; step father, James Goebel of Grove City and mother-in-law, Helen Pickens of Winston-Salem, N.C.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Harland and Admina Erf and father-in-law, James Pickens.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 291 N. Union Street, Galion with Rev. Gary Nuss officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
