Miriam Izer was one of few students fortunate enough to

she rode her horse-Topsy. That was in 1930 and
throughout her life Miriam worked on the family farm,
raised four children, and baked the best pies.
Now at peace, Miriam I. Izer passed away Wednesday,
February 23, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was
98.
Born in Lexington on July 13, 1912 she was the daughter
of Gustavis and Tess Snyder. A homemaker, Miriam cared
for her family and in her younger years worked on the
family farm milking cows and tending to her garden.
Throughout her life Miriam loved gardening and always
had a soft spot for horses.
An excellent baker, she made the best rhubarb and
butternut squash pies. Miriam also enjoyed baking
cutout cookies and taking daytrips throughout Ohio.
She is survived by her son Luke (Kathie) Izer of East
Sparta, son Ronald (Carrie) Izer of Mansfield, daughter
Karen (Neil) Reardon of Mansfield; grandchildren Brian
and Brent Brewer, Kim, Steve, Todd, and Robert Izer;
two step grandchildren David and Brian Reardon; three
great grandchildren Alyssa, Breanna, and Derek Brewer.
Miriam was preceded in death by her husband Oren Izer,
son Jon Izer; granddaughter Missy Izer; brothers and
sisters Russell and Cecil Snyder and Vivian Kilgore and
Betty White.
