Miriam A. Zimmerman, 90, of Upper Sandusky, formerly of Galion died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

Born Nov. 2, 1922 in Crawford County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Ruth Connelly Wise. She was preceded in death on June 15, 2013 by her husband, James S. Zimmerman whom she married on Feb. 7, 1942.

Miriam was a 1941 graduate of Whetstone High School and a member of First United Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress at Stratbury Manufacturing and Ohio Overcoat Co. to help contribute to the support of her family.

She enjoyed being with her family, and baking cookies which she always shared along with the produce from their large gardens. She was an avid reader, loved to play Scrabble, do crossword puzzles and rarely missed watching Jeopardy.

Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Deloris and Kenneth Kocher of Bloomville, Donna and John Patterson of Mequon, Wis., Diana and William Hurlow of Galion and Debra and Mike Poland of Cocoa, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Linda Zimmerman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa;; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded by one son, Daniel Zimmerman; one grandson, Michael Patterson; one great-grandson, Joshua Baker and one sister, Margery Poe.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
