Mildred J. Schaffer, age 63, of Mount Gilead, died Tuesday evening, October 20, 2015, at the Presidential Center in Marion.

She was born on April 12, 1952, in Blacklick, Ohio, to the late Edward R. and Della M. (Rosenberger) Henson.

Mildred had a wonderful sense of humor. She was also full of spunk and was a true fighter till the end.

She is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Joseph) Scribner; grandchildren: Della Smith, Timothy Smith, and Zachary Scribner; great-grandchildren: Marissa Smith, Alexa Hicks, Jasper Goodrich, and Dylan Goodrich; a brother, Will Henson; and sisters: Opal Kinniard, and Dora Brett.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jeanne Dowell; brothers: Robert and William Henson; and sisters: Margaret Duty, Dorothy Violette, and Stella Cramblet.

Her family will greet friends from Noon to 1:00 PM, on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring Mildred’s life will follow at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Mark Schaeufele officiating. A private family burial will follow at a later day at Ashley Union Cemetery.
