Mildred J. Hardman Fry
September 13, 1935 ‒ October 18, 2008
BELLVILLE~ Mildred J. Hardman Fry, age 73, of Bollinger Road, Bellville, passed away Saturday morning October 18, 2008 peacefully in her home.
She was born September 13, 1935 in Weston, West Virginia to Clyde J., Sr. and Mattie V. (Donaldson) Hardman, moved to Richland County at the age of ten, and was graduated from Bellville High School in 1953.
On June 22, 1954 she married W. Eugene “Gene” Fry, and they made their home, and raised their family in Bellville. Though Mildred was a homemaker most of her life, for many years she worked on the assembly line of the former Stevens Manufacturing/Essex Wire Company in Lexington.
She was dedicated as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 55 years, and was associated with the Mansfield South Congregation.
Mildred was blessed with an extra measure of hospitality, a trait she taught her family well. She enjoyed entertaining her friends on the family farm…entertaining in a style that usually included the bounty of her kitchen. Mildred loved to be in her garden, tending her iris and gladiolus bulbs, and the vegetables she would share with many. Since her childhood, she had saved certain green beans each year ~ from the seeds she carried north from West Virginia ~ to replant each season. Her harvest kept her busy canning.
Part of Mildred’s personality was her selflessness ~ always putting the needs of others first ~ and she so dearly loved to care for people, even in practical ways. Her passion was ministering to people the Kingdom Message and simple truths of the Bible. She loved speaking about how this earth will soon be transformed into a paradise and those that die will be resurrected to this earth with wickedness removed. Mildred will be remembered for her pure love, genuine care, true generosity, and concern for others.
She is survived by her husband Eugene Fry; her son and daughter-in-law Mark & Jeanette Fry of Bellville; her daughter and son-in-law Maureen & Greg Jackson of Brunswick; grandsons Shaun Jackson and Shane Jackson; brothers and sisters-in-law Clyde J., Jr., and Betty Hardman of Jeromesville, George Hardman of Mansfield, Robert & Arline Hardman of Ashland and Lowell & Vivian Hardman of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Delores Maxine Roth; a sister-in-law Jane Hardman; an infant brother Hartzel Vaughn Hardman and an infant sister Hazel Hardman.
The Fry Family will receive friends today, Monday, October 20, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Mr. Perry Beam will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
