May 04, 1939 ‒ June 15, 2016

Mansfield, Ohio

Mildred Hope “Millie” Baker Leverton Farmer died early the morning of June 15, 2016 at the OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

Millie was born in Mansfield on May 4, 1939, and was a life-long resident of the Mansfield area. Her interest in acting became serious in a drama class at Mansfield Senior High School. After graduation in 1957, she began her many hours of work with the Mansfield Little Theatre, which merged in 1967 with the Community Players to become the Mansfield Playhouse. She had many loyal followers each with a different play or character that was a favorite. In her fifty-nine years in local theatre, she did almost every job needed. She soon developed an interest in directing and began a new phase in her love of the theatre. Millie was featured as the News-Journal Personality of the Week on Sunday, September 1, 1974 as she began her two years as Resident Director at the Mansfield Playhouse. In addition, she appeared in productions of the Bucyrus Little Theatre and the Mansfield Campus OSU. Millie loved to read and she was always reading or had a book nearby.

She is survived by two sons, Robert B. Leverton II of Houston, TX and Gregory C. Leverton of Mansfield; two sisters, Shirley A. (Jack) Harte of Conroe, TX and Faith Baker of Mont Belvieu, TX. She is also survived by seventeen nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceding her in death were Millie’s husband, Leroy “Lee” Farmer, married in 1988, her parents Thomas L. Sr. and Anna Wellen Baker, and two brothers, Thomas L. Jr. and Dane E. and three sisters, Mary G. (Cecil) Price, Willetta “Sno” Burton and Karen R (John) Gibson.

Her family wishes to express a special thanks to OhioHealth Hospice staff, Millie’s niece, Leeanna “Dee Dee” Logan and Millie’s friend Cate Blair-Wilhelm for their efforts to give her comfort in her final days.
