Delaware, Ohio

Mildred A. Caldwell, 87, of Delaware, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at her residence.

Mildred was born on July 12, 1931 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Clyde A. and Naomi E. (Watson) Snyder.  A new job for her father forced the family to move to Delaware, where she lived for most of her life.  She had attended Willis High School here in Delaware.  She had been employed at Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware for over 11 years, and then worked at Walmart in Delaware for a number of years. Mildred was the type of person that enjoyed staying at home where she raised her family of 9 children.  She also enjoyed collecting all sorts of things, feeding the birds and also her cats.  She had a green thumb and loved flowers both indoors and outdoors.  She did a lot of sewing, especially mending the families clothing.  Her cooking was also her specialty and always prepared a big meal for all on Sunday’s.  Her children loved her dearly and showed their love by building her a home which was completed in 1991.

Surviving are her eight children, Connie Wicker, Tom Caldwell, Jerry Caldwell, John (Victoria) Caldwell, Sammy Caldwell, Tony (Susan) Caldwell, Max (Wendy) Caldwell and Sandy Caldwell and his fiancé, Sheila; nineteen grandchildren; fifty-one great grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Bailey of Delaware and Hazel Snyder Bunten of TN.

In addition to her parents that have preceded her in death was her son Dale Caldwell, son-in-law Stacy Wicker, daughter-in-law Mary Caldwell and two sisters, Bonnie Hartley and Rosetta Keister.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 from 4-7 p.m., at the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.   Burial will follow in Marlborough Cemetery.  Following the burial, a gathering for all will be held in the Snyder Rodman Community Room.
