January 22, 1951 ‒ July 05, 2013
Mike Nash, age 62 of Westerville died unexpectedly Friday, July 5, 2013 at home.
He was born on January 22, 1951 in Newark to the late Kenneth and Mary (James) Nash. A graduate of Northridge High School in 1969, he also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry from The Ohio State University. Mike owned and operated Double T Products as a wholesale lumber broker since 1999. He also owned Sunrise Wood Products and had worked with Fireside Forest Industries.
A musician by ear, he played the guitar and drums and amassed a collection of each. In his younger years he was a member of the Cytes, a local garage band. Throughout his life he enjoyed 1960’s Rock n Roll, favoring the Beatles, Beach Boys, and took inspiration from Tommy Emanuel.
Charismatic, he was very personable and quite the conversationalist. With Mike, you were never a stranger long. He used those skills as a fundraiser for Walnut Spring Wolves Fishing Club, to which he was a constant supporter. With a giving spirit every Christmas season he filled his Corvette with basketballs for the Toys for Tots Drive.
He also enjoyed a passion for automobiles; his favorite was his red 2001 Corvette Coupe. Mike was a lunch regular of Champp’s at Easton, an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, video poker and he also enjoyed fishing and was the family videographer.
He took pride in his family, especially showing off his grandchildren and his dog Rusty. Times at home in the pool and listening to music were always special, but he was happiest picking his guitar to the beat of his own song.
Those he leaves behind include his high school sweetheart of 40 years Carol Ann (Webb), son Tyler (Amanda) Nash of Blacklick, daughter Tiffany (Brian) Shane of Gahanna, grandchildren Jacob, Zachary, Hudson, Teagan, sister Rebecca (Skip) Bessell of Westerville, brother Roger (Marcia) Nash of Fairbanks, Alaska, and extended family and friends.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday with Rev. Jim Zippay officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Alexandria.
