Mike Klarecki

May 31, 1955 ‒ September 19, 2007

Mount Gilead and formerly Columbus, Ohio

Mike Klarecki, 52, of Mount Gilead and formerly of Columbus, Ohio died Wednesday September 19, 2007 in Dayton, Ohio as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He was born on May 31, 1955 in Elkhart, Indiana the son of the late Edwin W. and Jeanne Marie (Calnon) Klarecki.

On December 29, 1975 in Buena Vista, Colorado Mike married Lois A. Walker. They were married for nearly 32 years.

He was employed by Fed Ex Freight in Hilliard, Ohio (Home office Harrison, Arkansas.) as the Senior Property Manager. He started his work there in 1998.

Mike loved life and it showed by the flair and zest with which he lived. He could spend days testing the curvy, winding, roads on his Harley Davidson, Screaming Eagle Deluxe. The call of the open road was hard for Mike to deny; a call which often took him and Lois on many adventures.

In general, Mike was his happiest outdoors. Whether he was camping or fly fishing, he reveled in the peaceful solitude of nature.

While, he had a great love of the outdoors Mike was not one dimensional. His intellectual side was remarkable and he was not afraid to use his mind. In fact, it pleased him to tell you about things and how they worked. His photographic memory made those tasks easier for him than most. Mike always had an answer, and on those rare chances he didn’t he could B.S. with the best of them. What made those situations unique was the thirst to gain the knowledge to give the correct answer the next time.

Mike’s strong personality, extraordinary wit, and need to talk led to some interesting debates. You may have felt that Mike wanted to argue just for the sake of arguing.

He could also appreciate a good laugh. You may remember his stories about the rubber mines or musical conductor, LePetamaine, who had a unique musical presentation.

Mike was a past Master Mason, belonging to the Masonic Lodge in Forsythe, Missouri.

In addition to his wife he will be missed by his two daughters Natalie (Blair) Franklin of New Albany, Ohio and Dasha (Keith) Kern of New Market, Maryland; five grandchildren Nicole Marie Klarecki, Caitlyn Michelle Franklin and James, Aubrey, and Keagan Kern; sister Karen (Jim) Nicholson of Elkhart , Indiana; brother Patrick (Cathy) Klarecki of Big Rapids, Michigan; brother-in-law Robert (Jenni) Walker of Rifle, Colorado; and sister-law Margaret (Anthony) Martinez of Blue Springs, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main Street, Mount Gilead with Pastor Don Lockwood officiating. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1105 Mount Vernon Avenue, Marion, Ohio 43302.
