Michael Warren Whipple

February 03, 1957 ‒ February 26, 2020

Delaware, Ohio
Formerly of Mount Gilead, Ohio

Michael Warren Whipple, age 63, of Delaware and formerly of Mount Gilead, passed away Wednesday morning, February 26, 2020, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

On February 3, 1957, Michael was born in Mount Gilead, OH, one of two sons of the late Robert Warren and LaVonne Lucille (Witzel) Whipple.  He graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1975.

Michael really wanted to serve his country.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army and while going through basic training a heart murmur was discovered, so he received his honorable discharge.

For many years, Michael was a hydraulic machine specialist for H.P.M. in Mount Gilead, then did small engine repair in Delaware.

A man of faith, he attended the St. John Lutheran Church for many years and liked being part of and volunteering with the Williamsport Grange.

Michael enjoyed fishing and hunting, camping, working on his race cars, model airplanes and playing cards, especially poker.

Michael had a big heart and was always there for his family.  He would help anyone however he could even though he could be a bit bull-headed at times and was never afraid to tell you what he thought.

Michael will be dearly missed by his son, Harold (Alex) Whipple of Delaware; his grandson, Anthony Rhodes; another grandchild on the way; four sisters: Eileen (Denny) Levering of Mount Gilead, Colleen (Larry) Myers of Mount Gilead, Debbie McFarland of Delaware, Gayala (Phil) Lyons of Cardington; and his canine companion, Foxxy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Ann (Baker) Whipple in February 2006; a son, Jason Michael Whipple; and his brother, Harold Leonhard Whipple.

Michael’s family will greet friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead.  Military honors will take place at 3:00 p.m. and will be performed by the Active Duty U.S. Army, VFW Post 8054 and AMVETS Post 87.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be made to Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead, to assist the family with funeral expenses.
