Michael P. “Mike” Buckley

Mike Buckley was a prankster and outdoorsman, but most of all he was a loving family man.  Michael P. “Mike” Buckley, 60, of Bellville, passed away, Saturday January 20, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.

The son of Charles and Gladys (Levingston) Buckley, Mike was born August 15, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1976.

Mike was a tool and die machinist, and had worked for Essex Supply in Lexington.

A man’s man, he enjoyed the outdoors.  Mike hunted mostly small game and enjoyed fishing sometimes taking fishing trips out of the state.  He proudly taught his daughters to fish…even better than the boys.

Mike was always playing practical jokes.  Laying traps and setting of firecrackers, he had fun keeping everyone on their toes.  Mike was an irreplaceable dad and grandpa who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his children Jason Chinn, Mandy “Newt” Buckley of Bellville, and Keri (Ryan) Reasor of Bellville; grandchildren Emma and Waldo Humphrey; siblings Elizabeth (Bill) Hurst of Lexington, Rosemary (Robert) Young of Lucas, Valeria (Gary) Smith of Butler, and Jonnie (Ron) Barnes of Mansfield ; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Russell and Chuck Buckley, sister Frankie Griesbach; nephews Dwayne Hurst, Jerry Buckley, and Michael Smith.

Mike’s family will received friends Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 11am-1pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 1pm.  Burial will follow in Zion Four Corners Cemetery.

  • I have fond memories of young Mike Buckley in my history classes decades ago. He was always very pleasant and willing to work. Mike was not shy and was always able to contribute something to “keep conversations going”. I was saddened to read of his passing. Mike was a great kid!
