Delaware, Ohio

Michael Walters 59, of Delaware passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 10, 1958 in Columbus to the late Norma Jean (Donaldson) Walters.

Michael proudly served in the United States Army from 1975, until 1978, he worked as a sales manager for Moore Handley, and attended Grace Baptist Church.

Michael had a rough exterior, he was boisterous, and sometimes stubborn, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and was known to fix anything and everything. He was a member of the NRA, and the ultimate Ohio State Buckeyes Fan. He was unique, caring and kind-hearted, and was the best father and papaw anyone could ask for. • We’ve been friends for a long time, back to the Army days. That is a time when special friendships are created. After years, and we got to come and meet your family, all the pieces fit right in. Each time we got to visit it was like there were no miles or years in between. I can’t remember a time or conversation that didn’t involve laughs. Every memory and every time your name comes up so does a smile. You had quite an impact on the people that knew you. You will be greatly missed.
We love you and your family.

  • I didn’t know Mike that long but he was a very outgoing guy, friendly and always willing to help you out if he could. Loved his family and always spoke about his grandkids. My condolences go out to Brenda and Brittany and the rest of the Walter’s family. RIH Mike.

  • Our hearts go out to your family in the Home going of Michael. We will be praying for you.
Pastor Tom Wright & the MBC forever family

  • Brenda and Brittney, We are going to really miss Mike. Doc will miss his chess partner and their Thursday afternoons together.
You mention he was sometimes rough on the outside and at times stubborn; I guess we are all stubborn at times, but Mike had a way of making others feel special and he did not hesitate to show his affection and kindness to others.
I know this will be a difficult time for you both, adjusting and trying to comfort the grandchildren. It is a blessing to know you have a relationship with God; a relationship that will get you through this. Greater, is the comfort knowing that Mike had that relationship as well and he now is made complete – no more pain, no more sickness.
He has run the race and finished.
Dr Robert (Doc) and Mary Lou Gnade
