Michael Lynn Belt, age 73 of Edison, passed away Monday, July 08, 2019 at Galion Pointe.

Mike was born on September 16, 1945 in Marion County, the son of Scott and Vivian (Hipsher) Belt.

Growing up, Mike loved to work with his dad on the family farm. He was a member of 4-H and raised Holstein cows to show at the fair. As he got older, Mike developed a love of history and began studying about the Revolutionary War, Civil War, French & Indian War and more. He became a walking encyclopedia of history and even was involved with living re-enactments. He worked for over 35 years at Whirlpool until his retirement.

He is survived by his children: Christopher Belt and Lori Belt-Myers; grandchildren: Marcus and Devin Gates; and great granddaughter Brooklyn.

Services will be held privately by the family.

  • Mike and my dad, Ray McAvoy, were good buddy’s at work and outside of work. I always liked Mike and he was a good man. Prayers for comfort and peace during this time.

  • I am a STNA at Galion Pointe and cared for Mike Belt I was very sad when I heard he passed away the day I was suppose to come in. I enjoyed caring for him and some of the stuff he would say there was never a dull moment with him. He will Be missed R. I. P Mike Belt.

  • Sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. Grew up with Mike in the same country block. Bailed a lot of hay together. Always enjoyed any visit and conversation we had.

    You have our sympathy. I had known Mike for several decades. He was so very dedicated to history. We attended lots of history events. Even made him a flintlock rifle once. He was a friend and is missed.

  • So sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. He use to come in to AAA but remember him most from French and Indian War reenactments. He was quite the character.

  • Mike will be missed, I knew Mike for as log as I can remember, he was always glad to see you and had good stories to tell, he had a big heart.
