Michael G. Stanforth, age 71 of Marion, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Marion General Hospital.

Michael was born February 28, 1950 in Columbus, the son of George F. and Doris (Osburn) Stanforth. He was educated in Marion graduating from Harding High School in the class of 1968.

Michael worked for Abbott Labs serving as a technician. He also worked for Western & Southern and was a data processing engineer for J. Baker, Inc.

On May 18, 2001, Michael was married to Nancy Rae Walter.

Michael valued relationships and took time to lend a helping hand to anyone in need or would simply listen when someone needed to share. He enjoyed being outdoors working different side jobs. Michael was an avid collector of a great many things. His collections were always well organized and everything had its place.

He is survived by his devoted wife Nancy Rae Stanforth; children: Anthony (Dawn) Stanforth, Michael A. (Tiffany) Stanforth, Chris (Angela) Stanforth and Kevin (George) Spitzer; grandchildren: Penelope and Morgan Stanforth; brother David Stanforth and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Snyder Funeral Home, Gunder/Hall Chapel, 347 West Center St., Marion from 12PM to 2PM; funeral service will follow at 2PM.

If so desired, donations may be made to the Marion County Humane Society or American Lung Association.
