Michael Ellsworth Phalor

October 22, 1958 ‒ August 04, 2018

South Pasadena, Florida
Formerly of Mansfield, Ohio

South Pasadena, Florida:  A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor. And so it is with life. Mike Phalor loved boating and navigating on the open waters. No boater chooses to battle raging waters – and like in life when the storms rise – character rises to meet the challenge.

Michael is safe in an eternal harbor as he passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 in Bayfront Health, in St. Petersburg, Florida, following a short illness. He was 59.

Born October 22, 1958 in Mansfield to Harold N. and M. Joan (Kober) Phalor, he attended St. Peter’s Schools, was graduated from Ontario High School, and attended North Central State Technical College.

Michael spent most of his life in Mansfield where he worked as a building contractor, and was a member and former Exalted Ruler of BPOE #56, and member and past trustee of Owls Home #1152.

Licensed as a private pilot, he “spent time” on land, but truly “lived” in the air and on the high seas. Michael truly loved his family and his dog Duke.

He is survived by his wife Sherrie (Hart) Phalor, whom he married May 28, 1993; daughters Ann (Jeremy) Bise, Kristen (Robert) Bills, Amanda (Dan) VanHarlingen, and Katherine Phalor; seven granddaughters; his sister Cynthia (John) McCue; sister-in-law Karen Phalor; and nieces and nephews.

His parents preceded him in death. Also deceased are his brothers Matthew, Norman and Stephan Phalor; and a nephew Bradley McCue.

The Phalor family will receive guests Friday, August 17, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Avenue, Mansfield, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate.

  • Dear Sherrie,
Mark & I are very sad that Mike has passed away, but know that he was loved. You and Mike (Goiter) were the best camper neighbors ever and we are blessed to have made so many memories! The first was the “Marshmallow Lady” and boating, campfires, Birtdays (haha), car races, the Hill people, Christmas in July, our doggies…and on and on.
Our thoughts are with you and your family. We love you and miss you,
    Mark & Marcia

  • I am sorry for your loss and wish to extend my condolences. Death was never part of the equation that God had purposed for us. We were designed and created to live forever. He has promised to eliminate not only death, but all things that cause us any kind of pain and suffering. (Revelation 21:4) Soon the words regarding the resurrection found at John 5:28, 29 will take place and give us opportunity to welcome back our loved ones to a restored paradise earth and live forever. (Psalms 37:29) May these promises that are found in the Bible bring you a measure of hope and comfort.

  • My condolences to the Phalor family. No doubt this is a tough time for your family and the need for comfort is critical. Thankfully God lovingly provides us with his word the Bible which offers us this comfort. (Revelation 21:4) So very soon God will bring about a time where not only our loved ones will return., but they will return to a world where they wont be plagued by sickness or stalked by death.

  • Our sincere condolences on the loss of your brother Michael. Our prayer is that God will surround you and your family with His love at this time.
