Michael D. “Mike” Petty, age 60 of Delaware, formerly of Mt. Vernon passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019.

He was born on December 1, 1958 in Hamilton, Ohio to Dorothy J. (Sidesinger) Petty of Delaware and the late Richard H. Petty. Mike worked for over 22 years in the kitchen of the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mt. Vernon.

In addition to his mother Dorothy of Delaware he is also survived by his brother Richard “Rick” (Marilyn) Petty of Bellefontaine, his sister Connie (Dave) McNeal of Delaware and additional extended loving family members.

  • I am so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. He was one of my “pride and joy” people who found a good match in his joining the kitchen staff at the nursing home through our company. I enjoyed working with him and following his progress as he continued his working career.

  • Meeting & getting to know Michael within the career programs of Knox County was such a blessing . He & his family exemplified faith, hope & love: Faith- in God’s wondrous blessings, Hope – in believing Mike should, could & would be all that he could be , Love – among their own family circle – extending to all they met . As your instructor, co-worker & community neighbor, Michael – you inspired me to hold fast to the passion that led to dreams . We learned from each other – equally, and now you have moved on ahead – on to Glory. Thank you for being such a good example to so many – a witness to the Lord’s plans for our lives by loving others. You will be so very missed my so very many. It has been a special privilege to have known you and shared in your precious life. Nancy (Kunkle) Gregg
