MANSFIELD ~ Mert Lehman of Lexington passed away Friday afternoon December 18, 2009 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, she was 79.

She was born on November 5, 1930 in Dickerson County, Michigan to Ira Ray and Elva “Marie” (Pickett) Andress.

On August 2, 1947 she married her childhood neighbor and lifelong friend Carroll Lehman. Together they lived in the Lexington area raising their four children.

Her favorite hobby being bingo; every Sunday and Wednesday evening around 6:45pm you knew Mert would be at the bingo hall waiting for her numbers to be called. Mert also loved reading a good romance novel, and looked forward to attending craft shows.

She is survived by her husband Carroll Lehman of Lexington, son and daughter-in-law Gary and Elaine Lehman of Bellville, daughter Cindy Blanton of Mansfield, daughter and son-in-law Judy and William Kurtz of Bucyrus; grandchildren April (Lehman) & Kevin Johnson; Brandy (Lehman) & Jackson Oyster; Karin (Lehman) & Gregory “JR” Peters; Tara (Lehman) & her companion Michael Hitt; Benjamin Lehman; Charles Blanton Jr. & his companion Khristin Masi; Tammy Blanton & her companion James Adkins; Dawn (Blanton) & Chuck Sturgill; Michele (Benham) Reeves; 20 great grandchildren including a special great granddaughter Amber Blanton & one Great-greatgrandson; brothers-in-law Raymond Kidwell of Chesterville and William Chartier of Galion, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her son Michael Lehman; sisters June Chartier and Helen Kidwell and brothers Raymond & Norman Andress; two great-great grandsons.

The Lehman family will receive friends Monday, December 21, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.

Contributions in her memory to Troy Township Fire Fighters and may be made at the funeral home.
