Merle E. Adams

Merle E. Adams, 76, of Bellville, died Monday morning, March 3, 2003 in his home following a short illness.
He was born March 29, 1926 in Jefferson County to Roger J. Adams, Sr. and Ethel B. (Sturgeon) Adams, and was graduated from Jefferson Union High School in 1944.
A WWII Navy veteran, Merle served in the Pacific Theater, and had been a member of Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion, Bellville.
He had lived in the Bellville area most of his life and served as a sergeant at the Ohio State Reformatory, where he worked as a meat processor.
Merle loved being outdoors, tending his vegetable gardens, or his honeybee hives; but his passion was ‘coon hunting, and raising his ‘coon dogs.
He is survived by wife Wanda (Larimore) Adams, whom he married September 6, 1977; his daughter and son-in-law Deborah and William Kline of Willard; three sons and two daughters-in-law Daniel and Vicki Adams of Lexington, Kevin Adams of Bellville and Jeffrey and Kimberley Adams of Bellville; a step son and his wife Ben and Denise Strome of Standardsville, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister Wavaline Rawson of Bellville; three brothers and sisters-in-law Avery and Ruth Adams of Bellville, Roger and Roberta Adams of Jefferson County, and Charles and Judy Adams of Bellville; several nieces and nephews; and a special buddy Chester, the Bulldog.

The Bellville Snyder Funeral Home is serving the family. Private services will be held at a later date.
