Melvin R. “Dutch” Irwin, 89 of Galena, died unexpectedly Saturday

(March 30, 2002) afternoon at his residence.

He was born in Harlem Township on November 4, 1912 to the late Thomas and Bertha (Hatch) Irwin. Retired farmer, 51 year member of Sparrow Lodge #400 and Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus. He enjoyed making cypress clocks, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Mildred Shicks Irwin and they were married September 7, 1935 in Greenup, Kentucky; Son: James (Sharon) Irwin of Galena; Daughter: Joyce (Walter) McFadden of Westerville; 8 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Proceeded by 2 Brothers: John and Dave; 2 Sisters: Marie Welch and Hazel Parkinson.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday with a Masonic Service at 8. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Larry Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Fancher Cemetery.
