Melvin E. Disbennett, age 63 of Delaware, died Tuesday morning, April 8, 2003 at his residence.

He was born in Pharisburg, Ohio on September 5, 1939 to the late Elden and Gladys (Lamont) Disbennett. He worked as an electrician for PPG in Delaware for 36 years before retiring in 2000. He was a lifelong resident of Delaware. Member of Free Will Baptist Church of Lewis Center, Delaware Eagles and Moose Lodges. He enjoyed trapshooting, fishing, hunting, and camping. He also found pleasure going to yard sales and finding others “treasures.”

Survived by his loving wife of 21 years Pat (Wells), Sons: Melvin (Sherrie) Disbennett of Mt. Gilead, Tony (Julie) Call of Delaware, Jim (Lynn) Call of Marion, and Brandon Disbennett of Delaware, Daughter: Melissa Deer of Columbus, 15 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild, Brother: Rodney (Ruby) Disbennett of Delaware, Sisters: Naomi (Bill) Heavlin of Delaware, Phylis (Edward) Johnson of Kilbourne, and Crystal (Chuck) Johnson of Florida, Mother-in-law: Marjorie Wells of Chillicothe, Brother-in-law: Bill (Louis) Wells of Delaware, Sisters-in-law: Margie (Jerry) Phillips of Delaware and Mary (Roger) Easterday of Chillicothe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Matthew Call.

Friends may call Thursday from 2–4:00 p.m. and 6–8:00 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware, where funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastors Dan Bill and Tony Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
