Melva Shockley Hatcher, 71, of Union Street, Edison, Ohio died Saturday, April 10, 2004 in Doctor’s West Hospital.
She was born in Delaware County, Ohio on September 26, 1932, the daughter of the late Grove and Ellen Phillips Corbin. She moved here from LaRue in 1964. She had worked in the dietary department at Morrow County Hospital until retiring. She attended the Edison United Methodist Church and also had attended the Nazarene Church where she was active in pastoring and in the music program. She enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by her husband Harvey Hatcher, whom she married Dec. 27, 1974; four sons Phil (Donna) Shockley of Albuquerque, NM, Daniel (Carol) Shockley of Tampa, FL, Jackie A. Shockley of Mount Dora, FL, and Eddie (Tracy) Shockley of Tampa, FL; a daughter Debbie K. Goodren of Mount Dora, FL; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and two brothers Jack Corbin of Orlando, FL, and Gene Corbin of Delaware, Ohio.
Friends may call at the Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Gilead on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Rev. Don Lockwood will conduct funeral services there Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Alum Creek Friends Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
