Marion, Ohio

Melody Jane Erwin, age 39, of Marion, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017.

Melody was born on October 2, 1978 in Marion, the daughter of the late Edward Vern and Cathy Jane (Bryan) Erwin.  She graduated from Elgin High School and later received an LPN nursing degree. Melody worked for many years in home healthcare.

Melody was a fun-loving woman, full of life with an adventurous spirit.  She was a social butterfly with a contagious sense of humor that was inviting to all who knew her.  Her proudest achievement was her two children, Steven and Mya, whom she adored.  She loved to support her children in all they did.  Melody had a wonderful extended family with an open door policy; everyone was always welcomed to visit.

She is survived by her children, Steven Edward and Mya Jane Persinger; her siblings: Pam Erwin and Donald Vern Erwin; grandmother, Peggy Bryan; and Sheila Mellott who Melody called a sister.  Melody will be missed by her large extended family including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Melody is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held at Snyder Funeral Homes, DENZER Chapel, 360 East Center St., from 3 until a 5 pm funeral service Monday, January 8, 2018 with Pastor Tom Beckel officiating.

  • Please accept my deepest sympathy for your family’s loss. I know you must be grief-stricken at the death of your loved one, Melody. She had so many years ahead-so much to live for. The Bible has proven to be the best source of encouragement for such a difficult time. At
1 Corinthians 15:25, 26 the Bible shows that the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing. So, untimely death will not claim someone so young like your beloved, Melody. The Bible at John 5:28, 29 shows that God ‘yearns’ to reunite Melody with you by means of the resurrection, and lovingly has made provision to do so. I sincerely hope that these scriptures from the Bible will bring your family much comfort and hope, as you continue to treasure your wonderful memories of Melody.
