Mellie Stillwell Talley, age 80 of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday October 28, 2003, at the Columbus Alzheimer’s Center in Columbus. She was born August 15, 1923 in Mount Vernon to Wendell W. and Margaret (Beam) Stillwell and had spent her lifetime in Mount Vernon. Mrs. Talley had served as secretary at Saint Vincent de Paul Church in Mount Vernon for 25 years. She was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and had attended Denison University in Granville and the Ohio State University in Columbus. Mrs. Talley was a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mount Vernon and the National Audubon Society.

Surviving are her son Craig (Patricia) Talley of Santa Ana, California; her daughter Diane (James) Teets of Tustin, California; 5 grandchildren Kyle Victor Talley, Brittany Talley, Rachel Meckling, Bethany Meckling and Benjamin Teets; her brother Warden Stillwell of Sacramento, California and her sister Sarah Youtkus of Rancho Bernardo, California. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Victor Talley and a sister Nancy Stillwell.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 AM at the Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mount Vernon with Rev. Diane Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Mound View Cemetery.
