Melissa Ann Sanese-Sherman, age 51, of Howard passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015 at her daughter’s home with her family by her side.

She was born on April 29, 1964 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Charles and Gladys (Jordan) Pratt. Melissa attended the South Vernon United Methodist Church here in Mount Vernon. She loved her children and their activities.

She is survived by her husband Gerald Sherman; three daughters, Madison (Austin) Looney, McKenna Sanese, Malaya Sherman; her son Christopher (Danielle) Sherman; two grandchildren, Isabell and Gabriel Sherman; two brothers, Michael (Connie) Pratt, Patrick (Donna) Pratt; and her sister Sheryl (David) Dinwiddie.

Friends may call on Monday from 6-8PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, beginning at 11AM with Rev. Lee Cubie officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Central Ohio Hospice.

  • I was fortunate enough to get to know Melissa in 7th grade. I will always remember her beautiful curly hair, her infectious laugh, and her smile which could light up a room. She was a beautiful person who will be missed by many who knew and loved her.
