Maxine Lemley Dooley, 82, of Co. Rd. 9, Edison, Ohio died Thursday, May 27, 2004 in the Marion Community Health Care Center.

She was born on Dec. 6, 1921 in Swords Creek, Virginia, the daughter of the late Howard and Rittie Childers Bostic. She has resided here since 1927. She worked as an assembler for North Electric in Mount Gilead and Galion and at Regulus in Mount Gilead until retiring. She had been a member of the Mount Gilead Church of the Nazarene, the New Life Assembly of God in Mount Gilead and the Bluebell Twig at Morrow County Hospital.

She is survived by her husband Obal W. Dooley, whom she married Jan. 12, 1990; a son Bud (Diana) Lemley of Mount Gilead, Ohio; two daughters and Carolyn Lemley of Edgewater, Florida, and Diana (Jim) Doup of Ashley, Ohio; three step-children Glenn (Thelma) Dooley of Marion, Ohio, Gene (Jeannine) Dooley of Iberia, Ohio, and Connie (John) Horner of Waldo, Ohio; six grandchildren Jennifer, Jackie, Terry, Tammy, Shannon & Lesley; four great grandchildren Lyndsey, Brandi, Abigayl & Layne; step-grandchildren; a brother Howard Hamblin of Arkansas; a sister Mae Kaelber of Cardington, Ohio; a half-brother Paul Zerby of Michigan; and a half-sister Betty Shepherd of Michigan.

Her first husband Lester L. Lemley, whom she married Sept. 1, 1936, preceded her in death on July 23, 1983. A daughter Patricia Jones, brothers Ed, John and Henry, and sisters Willa Bailey, Lillian Ritchey and Nancy Bostic also preceded her in death.

Friends may call at the Craven Funeral Home in Mount Gilead on Monday evening from 5 – 8 p.m. Pastor Eric Schroeter will conduct funeral services there Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Rivercliff Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
