Max E. Sebring, 68, of Iberia Road, Mt. Gilead, Ohio died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at his home.

He was born in Mansfield, Ohio, on July 24, 1934, the son of the late Frank and Gertrude Dennis Sebring. He graduated from Mt. Gilead High School in 1952 and attended Ohio State University prior to serving in the U.S. Army from 1955-57. He worked for H.P.M. Corporation, owned and operated Sebring’s Gulf Station in Mt. Gilead, and retired from Marion Correctional Institute where he was a corrections officer for 23 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt Gilead. Max was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Alice V. Lewis Sebring, whom he married July 20, 1985; a son Michael (Patricia Tozer) Sebring of Uintah, Utah; a daughter Lynn Michelle Sebring-Murphy of Ashland, OH; two step-daughters Michell (Michael) Ousley of Chesterville, OH, and Amy (Brent) Cover of Mt. Gilead, OH; four grandchildren Megan, Taylor, Chad and Nathan; four step-grandchildren Taylor, MacKinzie, Alexandria and Hunter; his twin sister Mary Busse of Edison, OH; his former wife C. Jeannette Wigton Sebring of Ashland, OH; an aunt Mary Dennis of Cambridge, OH; special cousins Clara Drwall of Dolan Springs, AZ and Melba Watson of Cambridge, OH; nieces and nephews.

A son Max E. Sebring and his step-mother Eleanor Sebring also preceded him in death.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Craven Funeral Home in Mt Gilead. Dr. Dennis Schultz will hold funeral services there Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Worden Cemetery near Denmark.
