Mary Zariczny, 97, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Mount Vernon. She was born on April 22, 1922 to the late Thomas and Margaret (Bidwell) Calo in Corning, New York.
Mary honorably served her country during WWII by serving in the Women’s Army Corps from 1945 to 1946 in Long Beach, California. She also served in the Navy Reserves from 1950 to 1954.
Mary is survived by her sister, Anna L. Luffred of Avon Lake, Ohio; nieces, Carmen Mizzoni, Bonnie Donegan, JoAnn Calo and Patty Calo; nephews, Joseph Luffred, James Luffred, Thomas Mizzoni and Thomas Calo; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Zariczny in 2005.
The family would like to make a special mention for Kelly Hoffman and Bobbie Hughes who visited and supported Mary over the many years while she resided at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:30 AM until the time of a memorial service celebrating the life of Mary Zariczny at 11:30 AM on February 12, 2020 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon. Military honors will be provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
