Mary “Shag” Strait, age 62 of Delaware died at home Thursday, August 24, 2017 following an extended illness.
She was born on December 18, 1954 in Dade County, Florida to the late Howard “Sonny” Raines and Anna Jean Horlocker. As one who loved the outdoors and open road, she moved to Delaware 7 years ago from Marion and after spending time in Arizona, Illinois, and Florida.
A master of many trades, she was a skilled tattoo artist, gifted seamstress, artist, home renovator, and truck driver. Not one for crowds, she was extremely loyal. Honesty was most important, she often expressed “say what you mean and mean what you say”. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, drawing, and sewing.
She loved being free and treasured time spent outdoors, drawing, and spending time with her family.
Shag is survived by her husband of almost 18 years: William “Randy” Strait, sons James Wilson (Loni Howlett), David Wilson, Michael (Jen) Wilson all of Marion, and numerous grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
