Mary Margaret Ludwick, age 94, lifelong resident of Marion, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020. She was born on March 7, 1926, in Marion, to the late Walter G. and Dorothea R. (Daugherty) Lyon.
Mary graduated from Harding High School in 1944, and went on to graduate from Bowling Green State University in 1971. Mary was a devoted homemaker and for many years enjoyed being a substitute teacher. She married her husband, Harold, on February 22, 1948, and worked alongside him on the farm.
Mary attended Kirkpatrick Liberty United Methodist Church, was a member of the Marion Area Christian writers, and was involved with the Marion County Teachers Association.
A devoted, faithful woman, Mary volunteered her time visiting nursing homes. She often shared her original music including songs from her own published book, “Songs and Words of Faith”. She taught Sunday School and was an avid traveler with her husband, Harold, visiting places like Turkey, Australia, Europe and Alaska. While in Ecuador and Haiti, they did missionary work.
Mary is survived by her son, Rev. James (Nancy) Ludwick, of Lebanon; daughters, Jane (Nick) Comer, of Marion and Barbara (Ed) Harer, of Bloomville; grandchildren, David (Laura) Comer, Holly Burton, Jay (Holly) Ludwick, Matthew Comer, Scott (Marita) Harer, Teri (Brendan) McCabe, Jonathan Ludwick, and Sarah (Kyle) Shroll; great grandchildren , Tyler (Savanna) Burton, Alyssa Burton, Preston Burton, A.J. Comer, Cora Ludwick, Lilian Ludwick, Callie Comer, Kylie Harer, Miranda Ludwick, Abigail Harer, Avery Shroll, Elsie Harer, Brendan McCabe, Jr., Charlotte Shroll and Rory McCabe; great great granddaughter, Elaina Burton; sisters, Ruth Prettyman, Helen (Bob) Evans, and Jean Fyffe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Ludwick, her sister in law, Helen Ludwick and brothers in law, Lee Prettyman and Darrel Fyffe.
A graveside service for Mary will be held privately at Marion Cemetery. A memorial celebration of life service will be held in the future when everyone can gather safely.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Gideons International or Kirkpatrick Liberty United Methodist Church.

So sorry to hear of her passing. She will always be in my heart. Mary taught me how to play the piano for $1 a lesson. My heart goes out to the family, she will truly be missed
