Mary M. Kehrwecker, 84, of Mount Gilead died early Monday morning July 21, 2008 at the home of her daughter Joyce and Ron Underwood, surrounded by her son Gary, daughter Joyce, and son-in-law Ron, and her very wonderful friend Betty Blair.
She was born on May 30, 1924 in Marion the daughter of the late Lloyd & Ida (Kehrwecker) Hough.
On November 16, 1946, Mary married her loving husband George B. Kehrwecker in Kentucky, just after his military discharge. They spent 61 wonderful years together before his passing in December of 2007.
In her earlier years she worked at Cooper Bessemer in Mount Vernon running the overhead crane and in the evenings waitressed at Mazza’s. More recently she worked many years for Rose Arnold’s Beauty Solon.
Mary was an avid bowler for over 40 years. She also enjoyed reading mysteries and old movies.
One to never pass by a casino, Mary looked forward to going to Las Vegas and other casinos.
She has been a member of the Galion Moose Lodge for 46 years and was the oldest living woman member of the Moose.
She will be missed by her three children Kenneth (Jean) Kehrwecker of Port Clinton, Gary (Teri) Kehrwecker of Mount Gilead and Joyce (Ron) Underwood of Mount Gilead; seven grandchildren Kimberly Kehrwecker Hensley (Sonny) Buford of Humble, Texas, DunDee Kehrwecker of Port Clinton, Steve (Amanda) Underwood of Mount Gilead, Lori (Bill)Walters of Chesterville, Shawn Kehrwecker of Mount Gilead, Mandy Kehrwecker of Mount Gilead, and Tyler Underwood, U.S. Coast Guard, Santa Rita, Guam; two great grandchildren Michael Underwood of Mount Gilead and Gage Walters of Chesterville; brother Donald (Helen) Hough of Lexington; sister-in-law Martha Porter of Ashley; and special friends Betty and Dean Blair, Dick and Judy Close, Paul and Marie Johnson, and Eileen Sheidler.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother Darrell Hough and his wife June; and her sister Edna Roelle.
Graveside services will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Cardington on Saturday July 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Pam Lamb-Hart officiating.
