Mary M. Carmel, 84, of Galion, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Galion.
Born May 10, 1929 in Crestline, she was the daughter of Adam and Gladys (Swain) Metz. She married Richard “Ted” Carmel, Sr. on December 18, 1949 and he survives.
She was a graduate of Crestline High School and attended Mansfield Business School. She was employed in the offices of the former Perfection-Cobey Company and Peabody Galion.
Mary was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Galion. Family was very important in her life and she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband Ted she is survived by son and daughter-in-law Tab and Carla Carmel of Galion; three granddaughters, Crista (Justin) Tinch of Lafayette, LA, Candy (Michael) Gilfilen of Gainesville, FL and Melinda (Brad) Lanker of Mt. Gilead; grandson Tab R. Carmel of Galion, four greatgranddaughters, Alexa and Riley Tinch of Lafayette, LA and Juliana and Vivian Lanker of Mt. Gilead and two nieces Connie Hartung of Sandusky and Debora Voss of Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by son Richard “Ted” Carmel, Jr.; daughter-in-law Carol R. Carmel; sister Jeanne Voss and brother-in-law Eugene Voss.
At Mary’s request no calling hours will be held. Private services for the family were held Monday, March 24, 2014 with Rev. Matt Wheeler officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
