Mary Louise (Pelasky) Militello passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Mansfield OhioHealth Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 87.

She was born August 19, 1931 to parents Edmund & Louise (Rittinger) Pelasky in Richland County. Mary went on to work at White Westinghouse, where she worked for nearly 50 years until retiring. She was also active with the Westinghouse fastpitch softball league as the pitcher and the bowling league.

In 1950, she married Frank J. Militello and they spent 26 wonderful years together until he passed away in 1976.

In spare time, she took pleasure in needlepoint, gardening, and building neighborhood bonfires. She was known as the “firebug” because she was able to start a fire in any situation, even from a wet pile of wood. But above all, Mary cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters Brenda (David) Kuhn and Lisa (Douglas) Weirick; granddaughters Erika (Joseph) Gowan, Nicole (Tony McKee) Gilbert, and Brooke Weirick; and three great grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers Eddie, Paul, Raymond, Bob, and Johnnie Pelasky.

Her family will receive friends Monday, April 23, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home with a funeral service on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.

Contributions in Mary’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association may be made at the funeral home.
