Mary Lou Doup, age 67, of Daniels Road, Mount Vernon went to be with her Lord on Thursday June 24, 2004 at her residence. She was born on June 21, 1937 in Knox County to the late Thomas Lee Hampton and Coreta (Rinehart) Hampton Steurer. She served as clerk of Pike Township for over 20 years. Mrs. Doup also had worked for the Gambier Library, Kenyon College and the Knox County Department of Human Services. She was a member of Amity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Doup enjoyed hobbies such as rug hooking, painting, landscape design, scrap booking and making crafts, but most of all, she loved spending quality time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years John “Butch” Doup, two sons, Doug (Joyce) Doup of Mount Vernon, Mike (Tina) Doup of Mount Vernon, a daughter, Debbie (Mike) Bailey of Grand Rapids, Ohio, five grandchildren, Eric, Sarah, Katie, Brandon and Delaney, a half brother Robert Lee, and four half sisters, Pat, Ceeta, Carolyn and Nancy.

Friends may call on Saturday from 5 to 8 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3 PM. Burial will follow in Amity Cemetery.
