Mary Lou Beacom, 90 of Sunbury, died Wednesday evening April 1, 2009 at Countryview of Sunbury.

She was born on February 10, 1919 in Clinton County to the late Daniel and Mary (Higgins) Denehy. She was retired from Sunbury Community Library as a clerk/ treasurer retiring in 1984.

Mary and her family were among the first members of St. John Neumann Catholic Church when it was formed and former member of St Paul’s Catholic Church, Westerville. Member of the American Legion Post 457 Auxiliary, Progress Club and Sunbury Garden Club.

She was generous, a caregiver and she enjoyed her family. She also liked to read, cook and flower gardening.

Survived by her husband: Lewis and they were married October 14, 1944 in Wilmington; sons: Daniel (Patricia) of Houma, LA, Robert (Margherita) of Upper Arlington, Michael of College Park, MD, Edwin (Cathy) of Sunbury; grandchildren: Geri, Bruce, Richard, Ryan, Randy, Brian, Lisa, Paul, Cody, Casey; 15 great grandchildren; sister: Geneva Denehy of Columbus.

Preceded in death by a brother Robert in 1917 and sister Rita in 2008.

Friends may call Monday from 2-6 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, prayer service at 6 p.m. and Tuesday 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 9633 E SR 37, Sunbury at 12 Noon Tuesday with Fr. David Sizemore celebrant. Interment will follow in Berkshire Cemetery.
