Mary K. Martin

Mary K. Martin, age 73 of Delaware died Wednesday morning, May 9, 2007 at Grady Memorial Hospital following a two year illness.
She was born on April 11, 1934 in Columbus to the late James F. and Mary (Miller) Elzey. A graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1952, she returned to Delaware in 1966 after living in various navel base locations as the wife of a US Navy veteran. For over 28 years she worked as a machine operator for the Nippert Company and after retirment as an assistant with the CVS Store on S. Sandusky Street.
Mary was the Past President of the Delaware 376 F.O.E., a longtime member of the Delaware Moose, V.F. W. Post No 3297 and Rural Chapel United Methodist Church, and a volunteer at Grady Memorial Hospital. She loved nature, and flowers, especially iris and most importantly her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Independent, considerate of others and willing to go without, her interests include writing, oil painting, and cake decorating. She was proud of her family and their achievements.
Survived by children: Catherine A. Blankley of Marion, Darrell W. Martin of Cali Mesa, CA, Brenda Jo (Boyd) Chapman of Lancaster, CA, James F. Martin of Delaware, 8 Grandchildren, 12 Great-grandchildren, and 2 Great-great-grandchildren, Sister: Patricia “Pat” Elzey of Delaware, Brother: Guy (Sandy) Elzey of Delaware, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her father: James Elzey in 1974, her mother: Mary (Miller) Elzey in 1998, brother: James F. Elzey in 1966, and former husband: Wayne D. Martin in 1992.
A service to celebrate her life and offer final farewell’s will be held for friends and family next Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at her home.
