Mary Jane (Abraham) Tobin Hanners, age 78, of Mount Gilead, passed away Saturday evening, October 6, 2018, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

She was born on September 21, 1940, in New Boston, MI, to the late Fred N. and Marianne L. (Ruehle) Abraham. Mary Jane graduated from Chester Franklin High School and later went on to graduate from the State Beauty Academy.

In 1959, Mary Jane married James A. “Jim” Tobin and had four children together: Dennis, Larry, Vicky, and Dale. In 1991, Mary Jane found a second chance at love when she married “Moose” Hanners whom preceded her in death in 2012.

For 29 years, Mary Jane cut, permed, colored, and style hair. For many of those years she had her own salon out of her home called MJ Salon of Styles. Mary Jane also taught cosmetology for at least 5 years at Tri-Rivers shortly after it opened.

Mary Jane liked to travel and go camping. She visited and camped at many of the local State Parks in Ohio, as well as, visiting Hidden Lakes Campground. Later in life, Mary Jane enjoyed visiting with friends at the Seniors on Center. Mary Jane spent most of her time with family as she loved being with her kids, grandkids, great-great grandchildren, and siblings. She had such a big heart and was always giving or caring for other’s needs.

She will be dearly missed by her children: Dennis (Debbie) Tobin of Marion, Larry (Kellie) Tobin of Edison, Vicky (Kenny) Head Mesa, Arizona, and Dale Tobin of Marion; grandchildren: Nathen (Ashley) Beckley, Patti (Brent) Peterson, Sarah (Jay) Long, Nicholas (Casey) Beckley, Monica Tobin, Becky Head, Melissa (Nicholas) Sells, Chelsey (Monuaire Cross) Tobin, Joshua Tobin, and Jake (Ashley) Tobin; great-grandchildren: Aiden, Brianna, Everett, Payton, EJ, Maleeya, Braxton, Liam, Corbyn, Silas, Bo, Emma, Caitlyn, Spencer, Chloe, Waylon, and June; four brothers: Norman (Ruth) Abraham of Delaware, David (Shirley) Abraham of Marion, Howard (Barbara) Abraham of Sopchoppy, Florida, and Jerry (Laura) Abraham of Delaware six sisters: Margaret Price of Fredericktown, Kathleen Grooms of Mount Gilead, Betty Forrest of Ocala, Florida, Nancy (Tom) Rensch of Edison, Barbara (David) Van Sickle of Mount Gilead, and Joyce (Gary) Gollihugh of Sunbury; a special friend and companion, Kenny Hull of Mount Gilead; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Ed and Fred Jr. Abraham; and two sisters: Marie Abraham and Connie Jones.

Her family will greet friends from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, October 12, 2018, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel. (67 N. Main St., Mt. Gilead, OH 43338) Services honoring her life will follow at 7 PM with Pastor Stephan Bloomfield officiating.
