CRESTLINE: Mary Schill’s humor was her lubricant for the machinery of life. Her hidden sense of humor smoothed her rough edges, kept those around her on their toes, and was an all-consoling grace.

The frugal lifelong Crestline resident passed away Wednesday evening January 11, 2012 in Crestline Nursing Home. She was 81.

Born November 30, 1930 in Crestline to William and Gertrude (Shiebley) Schill, Mary was graduated from Crestline High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was a fan of most every sport.

Mary worked as a cashier with Links IGA, then 17 years with ITT North Electric in Galion. She retired as an inspector with 22 years of service with the Timken Company, and after her retirement, she worked five more years with AVI Food Services.

She is survived by her brothers Donald Schill of Crestline and James Schill of Lordstown; nieces and nephews Barbara Lyons & Jeff Ferguson of Lexington, Kathy Shindeldecker of Galion, Mike and Julie Shindeldecker of Crestline, Steven and Kari Schill of Crestline, Debra Banks of Florida, great nieces Suni Beach of Bucyrus and Brandi Spayde of Mansfield; great great nieces Kady Beach and Kaylee Shick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Ruth, Beatrice, Patricia and Helen; and brothers John, Robert and Eugene.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 331 North Thoman Street, Crestline, celebrated by the Rev. Father Michael Geiger. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
