Mary Ellen Regalsky

June 16, 1938 ‒ October 09, 2021

Delaware, Ohio
Formerly of Martins Ferry, Ohio

Mary Ellen Regalsky, 83, of Martins Ferry, Ohio and most recently of central Ohio quietly left this earthly home to join the two loves of her life: Jesus and her husband, Bob, on Saturday morning, October 9, 2021 at Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber in Columbus, embraced by family and friends.

She was born June 16, 1938 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late George and Sarah (Smith) Thalman. She married her forever love, John Robert “Bob” Regalsky on July 7, 1962 in Wheeling, West Virginia after his discharge from the United States Army. Sadly, Bob passed away recently by Mary’s side on June 26, 2021, just shy of 59 years of marriage.

A resident of Martins Ferry for over 50 years, Mary Ellen was a devoted and faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Martins Ferry and more recently, St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware when moving to Delaware in 2019. She enjoyed sharing her earthly life with Bob, spending time with her kids and grandkids, investing relationally into her numerous friends, being a wonderful homemaker, making others laugh, and most importantly, being a warm hearted, solid rock and an encourager to anyone who crossed her path.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Teresa (Joe) Podolski of Worthington, Renee Ciardelli of Columbus and Denise (Paul) Johnson of Canal Winchester; son, John (Jenny) Regalsky of Delaware; 11 grandchildren, John David, Evelyn, Claudia, Caroline, Catherine, Christopher (Cora), Andrew, Valentino, Lindsay, Gabrielle, and Lukas.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 11:00 am – 12:00 Noon at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William Street, Delaware, where services celebrating Mary Ellen’s life will follow at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Dean Fulks of Lifepoint Church officiating. The services will be live-streamed and can be viewed at www.Facebook.com/DelawareSFH/

Burial will be at a later date in the Dayton National Cemetery next to her loving and devoted husband, Bob.

Contributions in Mary Ellen’s memory may be made to Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr. #170, Columbus, OH 43231.

The Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center is honored to serve the Regalsky family.

  • Loved coming over to the house when I was little.
Mary Ellen was always so much fun!!
Thank you for being such a wonderful part of my life.

  • I am sending all of my condolences and prayers to your family in this time of mourning. I took care of Mary for a period of time. She was one of the sweetest ladies and cared for those around her beyond measured. I still think of her often to this day, she will be dearly missed!

  • Mary Ellen had a very generous heart. Years ago our family was visiting with the entire Regalsky clan for Easter, I think, and she gave our four kids envelopes of money just as she did for all of her grandkids. The handful of times we spent with her, she was very hospitable, gracious, and kind. She will be greatly missed.

  • I offer my prayers to her family. I remember when Bob and Mary Ellen lived in Akron many years ago. Mary Ellen and my sister-in-law Ruth Fedorovich and I would visit and always end up laughing, she had such a good sense of humor. May she rest in peace along with Bob.

  • My sympathy and prayers go out to the Regalsky family on the passing of their Mother. I have many good memories of being part of their family celebrations. May she rest in peace. Judy Podolski

  • I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to work alongside Mary Ellen on our family reunions.

I will miss her kindness and humor.

Deepest sympathies to the Regalsky Family.

  • Dear Theresa Renee Denice John and families, I’m sorry to hear of aunt Mary Ellen’s passing. She was always loving and affectionate. I still remember her giving me strawberries and sugar one night when I was upset. Thinking of you during this sad time.
