Mary Ellen Fleming

MANSFIELD: Mary Ellen Fleming, age 80, of Mansfield, died Monday morning July 9, 2001 in Mifflin Care Center following a long illness.
She was born November 1, 1920 in Mansfield to Frank E. and Lena M. Swearingen Bair, was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1939, and earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Education in 1943 from Wittenberg University.
Mary taught elementary grades for 30 years in the Madison Local School District before retiring in 1983.
She was a member of Little Washington Congregational Church, the Women’s Fellowship of the church and the Ohio and Richland County Retired Teachers Associations.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Carolyn & Harold Cain of Piqua, and Mary K. & Bill Case of Mansfield; six grandchildren Kim Cain, Kelli Waltz, Luke Waltz, Matt Case, Johanna Case and Chris Case; and a brother Robert F. Bair of Mansfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law Richard C. & Betty Bair and a sister-in-law Bernadette Bair.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 11, 2001 at 11 am in Little Washington Congregational Church, 2323 Washington South Road, with the Rev. Nolan Steiner officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the church the hour prior to the funeral service. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
