Mary Elizabeth (Krizan) Demyan

February 27, 1926 ‒ January 26, 2018

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Mary Demyan was an avid shopper and bargain hunter. Her purchases were largely motivated for her family – as Mary had a huge heart for the people she loved. She was a bit of a perfectionist, and will be remembered for her generosity and hard work ethic.

Mary passed into the Lord’s care Friday afternoon January 26, 2018 from Magnolia Terrace in Galion. She was 91.

Born Mary Elizabeth Krizan February 27, 1926 to Daniel and Katherine (Franko) Krizan, she was always a strong and independent woman – and providing for her family was part of her nature. She started work at an early age and worked over 40 years at White Westinghouse.

On October 18, 1947 she married Nick Demyan, and they were blessed with two daughters. Mary would later help Nick in the operation of his business: Demyan Memorials, and the maintenance of their rental properties.

She was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughters Susan (Don) Yarger of Ontario and Cindi Tuttle of Powell; grandchildren Marnie (Greg) Franklin of Ontario and Andrew (Amy) Yarger of Powell; great grandchildren Chase Franklin, Kirstan Franklin, Addison Yarger and Wyatt Yarger; her sister Carol (Bob) Simms of Ontario; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Nick Demyan on June 6, 1995. Also deceased are her siblings Elaine Sowash, Daniel Krizan, Richard Krizan, Kathleen Davis, George Krizan; and two beloved nephews P.F.C. William D. Reeves and Michael Krizan.

The Demyan family will receive friends Monday, January 29, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Her nephew, Pastor Larry Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.

Contributions in her memory to St. John’s United Church of Christ TV Ministry may be made at the funeral home.
