Mary E. Sapp, 76, of Howard died unexpectedly Thursday morning, February 16, 2017 at Knox Community Hospital.  She was born May 22, 1940 in Amity to the late Harold and Alice (Rinehart) Gleeson.

Mary graduated from the former Amity High School in 1958 and then attended the Mount Vernon Business School.  Mary worked for Cooper Energy Service for over 20 years.  She was a member of the Howard Church of Christ.  Mary greatest enjoyment in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Mary is survived by her husband, Larry, whom she married on December 25, 1966; son, Lonnie (Teresa) Sapp of Parma;  daughter, Allison (Seth) Lindemann of Finneytown; grandchildren, Lucas and Harper Lindemann of Finneytown; and sister, Dorothy Howard of Mount Vernon.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Carroll and Jerry Gleeson.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m.  on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017    with Ben McKinstry  officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Howard.

  • I have loved you my whole life, and I always will. You cared so deeply for your family, and everyone in your life. I will never forget the happiness you gave me, the love, and for always making me feel special. You are my second mom and to say I will miss you terribly, is an understatement. My heart is broken.

    Mary was my friend for many years. We met when she joined Garden Club and she was always there to join me in Garden Club events,
    She was so devoted to her family and spoke of you frequently. Her grandchildren were her delight.

    Although our relationship was client and accountant, I felt a special place in my heart for Mary. I am so glad we were able to see each other on occasion (usually at a restaurant) and stay in touch after my retirement. Larry, hold dear your memories of a lovely lady.
