Mary C. Bowden, age 68, of Howard, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Knox Community Hospital.  She was born on September 9, 1951 in Newark, Ohio the daughter of Frank and Ada (McKee) Lacy Sr.  Mary retired in 2011 after 39 years of employment with Knox Community Hospital.

Mary enjoyed reading and was an avid fan and supporter of many sports teams including the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cincinnati Reds and most importantly her hometown Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets.  She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother that cherished the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her children; John (Grace) Bowden of Howard, Carl (Jennifer Adams) Bowden of Danville and Christi (Willy) Grogg of Fredericktown; seven grandchildren, Carmen (Ben) Leonard, Jordan (Eric) Bradley, Kendra Grogg, Kelton Grogg, Kylen Grogg and Kinley Grogg; five great grandchildren; and her beloved canine companion Colby.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Bowden (1992); her brother, Jack Lacy; and her sister Judith Carlson.

Friends may call on Monday 4-7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to the Knox County Animal Shelter.
