Mary A. “Dixie” Gall

Mary A. “Dixie” Gall, age 71 of Galena passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Mt. Carmel West following an extended illness.
She was born on October 21, 1940 in Portsmouth to the late Louis and Dorothy (Knittel) Melvin. A graduate of Watterson High School in 1958 and married her beloved husband of 53 years Joe Gall at St. James the Less Church.
A devout and active member St. John Neumann Church, she taught CCD. As one who loved gardening, she possessed a green thumb and enjoyed tending to her yard. Crafty and skilled with the needle and thread, she enjoyed quilting and sewing, making many of her children’s clothes. With strong values, she was meticulous in nature. A wonderful cook, her homemade lasagna and Pineapple upside down cake will long be remembered. She was an immaculate housekeeper who loving cared for her family in every way.
In addition to her husband: Joe, she is also survived by daughters: Yvonne Gall of Galena, Julie and Billy Ramsey of Marengo, grand-daughters: DeVona and Brentny Ashbrook (fiancé Levi Riehl), great-granddaughter: Zadi, sister: Therese Melvin of Columbus, brothers-in-law: Willie (Karen) Gall, Leo Gall, sisters-in-law: Mary (John) Badger, Rita Bolton, Theresa Willard, Bridgette (Ron) Cook, Nancy and Sandra Gall.
Also preceded in death by daughter Cynthia Bernard in 1984, great-grandson Tristin Griffith, brother John Melvin, brothers-in-law Louis, Albert Gall, Bud Willard and sister-in-law: Marguerite Henderson.
Friends may call Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. with 7:45 p.m. prayer services at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Church, 9633 E. SR 37, Sunbury, FAMILY TO MEET AT CHURCH with Rev. David Sizemore Celebrant. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
