Martha M. Harris

August 29, 1952 ‒ February 07, 2014

Marengo, Ohio

Martha M. Harris, age 61, of Marengo, passed away Friday evening, February 7, 2014, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Martha was born on August 29, 1952 in Barberton, OH, the daughter of the late Lee Dominic and Elizabeth (Wears) Pirolozzi. She graduated from James A. Garfield High School in Garrettsville, OH in the Class of 1970.

On April 30, 1971, Martha and Robert Wayne Harris eloped to Sparta, NC, and tied the knot. They shared over 42 wonderful years of marriage together.

Throughout the years, she held many secretarial positions and was also a server at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Restaurant.

Martha and Bob enjoyed spending free time at the casino. In the past they had enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, and more recently would go to Wheeling Island, Hollywood Casino, and Scioto Downs, where she loved playing the slot machines.

Martha liked to read and put together difficult jigsaw puzzles. She always seemed to have the answers to most of the questions on Jeopardy when they watched it on television. Above all, she thought the world of her family and loved spending time with them, especially all of her grandchildren.

She will be remembered as a selfless, loving person. The best wife, mom, and grandma anyone could ever ask for.

Martha will be dearly missed by her husband, Robert, of Marengo; two sons: Robert (Jennie) Harris II of Mount Gilead, Matthew (Miranda) Harris of Marengo; a daughter, Rachel (Chè) Gordon of Marengo; seven grandchildren: Samantha Harris, Brooke Ratliff, Benjamin, Grant, Faith, Autumn “Bebalator” Harris, and Liam Gordon; a brother, Chip Pirolozzi of Alliance; three sisters: Leanna (Arthur) Oblisk of Alliance, Vera (Bill) Dexter of Grove City, Bonnie Clay of Akron; and her best friend and partner in crime, Penny Etue.

The Harris family will greet friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held there immediately following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Seymour officiating.
