Marlene Martin, age 78, of Mount Gilead, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 14, 2018, at the Woodside Village Care Center.

On June 15, 1940, Marlene was born in Elbert, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Ira Otis and Virginia Clay (Brown) Myers.

For 18 years, Marlene was employed by Cosmo Plastics as a machine operator.  She retired from there in 1988.

A woman of faith, Marlene was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Elbert, WV.

In her spare time, Marlene enjoyed crocheting fancy dresses onto dolls, crafting, and jewelry making.  She also loved reading her Bible.

Marlene will be dearly missed by her brother, Ralph (Gloria) Myers of Mooresville, NC; and her sister, Phyllis Rutherford of Welch, WV.  She never had any children of her own, but dearly loved all of her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters: Edith Browning, Joanie Pate, Jo Ann Van Waes, her twin sister Arlene Myers, and Linda Myers; and four brothers: David Myers, James “Jimmy” Myers, Walter Myers, and Eugene Myers.

Private family services will be held at a later date in West Virginia.

We were roomates in 1976 we had a lot of good times.she fixed me up on a blind date I fixed her on blind date with my friend dad my blind date ended up being my a distance cousin.
