Marla Jo Runyon, age 56, of Marion, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 11, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Marla was born on October 6, 1964 in Delaware, Ohio to the late Robert “Jay” and Clara “Boots” (Thacker) Shelton.

She is survived  by her husband, Steve Runyon; her daughter, Daphne (Jason) Loper; sons, Brian, Ryan, and Bradley Runyon; three special daughters-in-law, Laci, Veronica and Loredana, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two on the way; three sisters, Nancy Rosenberger of Waldo, Brenda Crist of Texas and Pamela Spreng of Loudonville; and a brother, Robert (Chris) Shelton of Lewis Center.

Marla was preceded in death by a mother-in-law, Shirley Runyon; her sister, Sherry “S.J.” Shelton; a nephew, Duane Scott Rosenberger; and three brothers-in-law, Dave Rosenberger, David Crist, and Gary Spreng.

She was not only a great wife and mother, she was also a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother and was called by many names: Mimi, Nana, Grammy and Grandma.

She loved family, shopping and vacations.  One of her main missions was to take her grandchildren to Disney World.  She was a beautician for many years.  Then went to Honda where she put in 25 years.  She was well loved by family and friends and respected by all that knew her.  She will be missed forever.

Visitation will be held at Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel (347 West Center St, Marion) on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 11 until 1 pm.  A funeral will be held at the funeral home at 1 pm with Celebrant Galen McLeod officiating.  Burial will be held in Waldo Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Marla’s honor to Ohio Health Hospice or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
