Mark W. Fisher, age 97 of Sunbury died unexpectedly Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 1, 1912 in Mason County, West Virginia to the late John D. and Myrtle (Jordan) Fisher. He worked in the timber industry in his youth and was a lifelong farmer of both grain and dairy. He enjoyed a love of nature and the woodlands.
A member of Rural Chapel United Methodist Church, his life centered on faith, family, friends, and farming. He was a great conversationalist, who enjoyed hunting and gardening. A country gentleman, who was a gentle and kind man, he lived everyday to the fullest, without regret.
Springtime was his favorite time of year, as he liked to see things grow. He was a proponent of learning, who was willing to try new experiences. He enjoyed history, was happiest on the farm surrounded by his family and friends.
He is survived by sons: Mark Wayne (Brenda) Fisher of Delaware, Max (Cindy) Fisher of St. Louis, MO, grandchildren: Shelly Lynn (Al) Myers, Sherry Lee Fisher, Mark W. Fisher II Jr., Alex William Fisher, 4 Great-grandchildren: Mark W. III, Ryan M., Andrew J. Fisher, Jacob M. Myers, brother: Paul (Jean) Fisher of Mt. Gilead, sister: Delphia Barr of Westerville.
Preceded in death by wife of 64 years: Edna Cora Thompson in 2003, brothers: Hoy, Harold, Cecil, John, Clyde Fisher, and sister Sylvia Hartsook.
Friends may call Thursday 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury. Funeral services will be held Friday 10:30 a.m. at Rural Chapel United Methodist Church, 5850 Cheshire Rd., Galena, OH 43021, with Pastor Robert Wright officiating, burial will follow in Berkshire Cemetery.
